5.7. Kardannaja transfer

Features of a design
Kardannaja transfer is intended for transfer of a twisting moment from a transmission to a distributing box and from a distributing box to forward and back leading shaft.

Kardannaja transfer of the car VAZ-2123 consists from intermediate 2 (fig. 5.7), forward 1 and back 4 карданных shaft.

Intermediate propeller the shaft is made from прутка on which both ends are executed шлицы. On one end of a shaft (from outside transmissions) the flange 10 (fig. 5.8) which is connected to a flange of 1 secondary shaft of a transmission through elastic муфту 4 is established. Shlitsevoe connection of a flange elastic муфты and a shaft is condensed by an epiploon.
On other end of a shaft (from outside a distributing box) the hinge of equal angular speeds is established.
The case 6 hinges of equal angular speeds is attached to a flange of a leading shaft of a distributing box by means of hairpins.
The design forward and back карданных shaft is identical. The shaft represents a thin-walled steel pipe. On the one hand on a pipe it is welded шлицевый a tip on which the sliding plug карданного the hinge is established. Shlitsevoe connection of a shaft and a plug is condensed by an epiploon. On the other hand the plug is welded on a pipe карданного the hinge.
Both карданных the hinge are connected to the flanges, one of which (from outside pipes) is attached to a flange of a reducer of the forward bridge, and another – to a flange of a conducted shaft of a distributing box. Everyone propeller the hinge consists of two plugs connected крестовиной.

       THE NOTE
On a part of let out cars can be established forward and back карданные shaft with hinges of equal angular speeds. Their design is similar to a design of drives of forward wheels.

Serviceability check карданной transfers on the car
Check карданную transfer from below the car which is on the lift or a viewing ditch. In a transmission and a distributing box neutral transfer should be included. Check reliability of an inhaling of all carving connections, a condition of hinges and a rubber file elastic муфты an intermediate shaft (external examination).
1. Undertake both hands a shaft near the checked hinge. Short sharp movements shake everyone propeller a shaft in directions, perpendicular its axes. Notable люфт in hinges it is not supposed.
2. Repeat check for all карданных hinges.
3. Short sharp movements turn propeller a shaft round its axis in both parties, keeping a plug-flange карданного the hinge from проворачивания. Notable district backlashes are not supposed.
4. Repeat check on the others карданных hinges.

Greasing карданной transfers

In the absence of greasing шлицевое connection or the needle bearing крестовины wears out with occurrence люфта or, on the contrary, can jam. It be required to you: a syringe for forcing консистентной greasings, greasing of type Fiol-2U.

       GOOD ADVICE
Often there are problems with access of a tip of a syringe to a press butterdish крестовины, the press butterdishes caused by orientation concerning plugs of the hinge or the form/sizes of a tip of a syringe. In the first case the press butterdish can be turned a wrench in more convenient position. In the second case remove propeller a shaft from the car and turn a plug-flange so that to provide access to a press butterdish.

Removal and installation of an intermediate shaft
It be required to you: a key on 13, on 19 (two), small beards, a hammer.
1. Turn away four self-locking nuts of fastening of the hinge of equal angular speeds (SHRUS) to a flange of a leading shaft of a distributing box.

       THE PREVENTION
The reuse самоконтрящихся nuts is not supposed, replace their new!

2. By means of a hammer and a chisel accurately note a relative positioning of the case of the SHRUS and a flange of a distributing box.
3. Ослабьте nuts of fastening of support of the power unit, by means of a breakage shift it forward on 1,5–2,0 sm and...
4.... Deduce hairpins of the hinge from flange apertures.
5. Turn away three nuts of bolts of fastening elastic муфты to a flange of a secondary shaft of a transmission.
6. Take bolts from apertures муфты and a flange. If bolts leave hard, take advantage бородком and a hammer.
7. Remove a shaft.
8. Establish an intermediate shaft in an order, the return to removal.

Dismantling and assemblage of an intermediate shaft
It be required to you: a key on 13, on 19 (two), a screw-driver, sliding пассатижи, a hammer.
1. Carefully clear the hinge of equal angular speeds a metal brush.
2. Remove a collar of fastening of a casing of a cover of the hinge by means of a screw-driver and sliding пассатижей and...
3.... Shift a casing on a shaft that access to a cover has opened.
4. Remove a collar of fastening of a cover by means of sliding пассатижей.
5. Shift on a shaft a cover of the hinge and note in any convenient way mutual position of the hinge and a shaft.
6. By means of a hammer and the wooden prorate bring down and...
7.... Remove the hinge from a shaft.
8. Remove a cover and...
9.... A casing of a cover of the hinge.
10. Remove the valve of a cover of the hinge.
11. Turn away three nuts of bolts elastic муфты. Note a relative positioning and quantity of balancing washers before their removal with муфты.
12. Take bolts and remove муфту.
13. Establish on a shaft the removed details in an order, the return to removal, having combined the labels put before dismantling.

Removal and installation карданной transfers
It be required to you: a key on 13 (two), a chisel, a hammer.
1. Note mutual position of a flange forward карданного a shaft and a flange of a reducer of the forward bridge by means of a hammer and a chisel.
2. Turn away four nuts of bolts of fastening карданного a shaft to a flange of a reducer of the forward bridge.
3. Note mutual position of a flange forward карданного a shaft and a flange of a distributing box.
4. Turn away four nuts of bolts of fastening карданного a shaft to a flange of a distributing box, take bolts and...
5.... Remove propeller a shaft in gathering.
6. Similarly remove back propeller a shaft, without having forgotten to note its position concerning flanges of a distributing box and a reducer of the back bridge.
7. Establish shaft, having combined earlier put labels, in an order, the return to removal.

Repair карданной transfers
It be required to you: a trumpet (gas) key, a screw-driver, a chisel, small beards, a hammer, a stripper крестовин, a stripper of lock rings, the metal brush, getting greasing (for example, WD-40).

       THE PREVENTION
Kardannye shaft in gathering отбалансированы on manufacturer. Therefore it is necessary to keep a relative positioning of details at dismantling and the subsequent assemblage, differently at car movement there can be vibrations.

       THE NOTE
On a part of let out cars are established forward and back карданные shaft with hinges of equal angular speeds. Assort and collect such shaft to similarly corresponding operations for drives of forward wheels (Dismantling and assemblage of drives of forward wheels see).

1. Carefully clear details.
2. Put a chisel the labels defining mutual position of plugs карданного of the hinge.
3. Process getting greasing of an installation site of lock rings.
4. By means of a hammer and a small beard shift a lock ring and...
5.... Remove a lock ring a special stripper or круглогубцами.
6. By means of a stripper shift bearings in plugs карданного the hinge so that one of bearings partially left a plug eye.

In the absence of a stripper use a hammer and the mandrel suitable diameter, that...

... To shift a plug concerning the bearing.

7. Take the bearing from a plug eye a trumpet (gas) key or...
8.... Having clamped it in a vice.
9. Remove a plug-flange.
10. With the help a small beard take the second bearing, having established a plug-flange on a face head of suitable diameter.
11. Similarly disassemble the second hinge of a shaft.
12. Put the labels defining mutual position of the sliding plug карданного of the hinge and a shaft.
13. A screw-driver unbend pads of a holder of an epiploon and...
14.... Shift a holder on a shaft.
15. Remove a sliding plug.
16. If necessary remove an epiploon, having hooked its screw-driver.
17. Clear and examine all removed details. Estimate a condition of cases of bearings, needles, thorns крестовины, epiploons. If the specified details are damaged or worn out, replace крестовину in gathering.
18. Before hinge assemblage шлицевой a screw-driver carefully clear проточки in eyes for lock rings.
19. Remove old greasing with шлицевого connection and internal surfaces of cases of bearings.
20. Put greasing Fiol-2U or similar.
21. Establish details in an order, the return to removal, having combined the labels put before dismantling.
