The car is equipped by two independent brake systems: working and lay (fig. 8.1). The first provides braking at movement of the car and has the hydraulic drive, the second затормаживает the car on parking, has a mechanical drive.
On the car the working brake system with diagonal division of contours is applied that considerably raises safety of driving of the car. One contour of a hydrodrive ensures functioning right forward and left back of brake mechanisms, another – left forward and right back. At refusal of one of contours of working brake system the second contour providing a stop of the car with sufficient efficiency is used. In a hydraulic drive are included: the main brake cylinder 9, the vacuum amplifier 7, a tank 11 main cylinders, a regulator of 12 pressure of back brakes, brake mechanisms of forward and back wheels together with working cylinders and pipelines.
The lay system has a drive on brake mechanisms of back wheels.

On fig. 8.2 the main cylinder of 1 alternative execution is shown. Removal, installation and repair of this cylinder are described in section 11 «Alternative executions of the car». At the moment of the book edition on cars established not folding main cylinders which design differs from the cylinder 1 on fig. 8.2.
