10.24. Care of a body

The sink is the major component of care of a body.

THE PREVENTION Wash the car in specially taken away places equipped with the waste water drain or local treatment facilities, for environmental contamination prevention.

GOOD ADVICE Before a car sink clean drainage apertures of doors and thresholds («Procleaning of drainage apertures» see). Do not dust also a dirt a body a dry rag – it is possible to scratch a paint and varnish covering. Do not use for washing gasoline, kerosene, soda and sea water in order to avoid damage of a paint and varnish covering, rubber and plastic details of a body. It is impossible to wash a body in frosty weather and to leave on a frost on the car with a wet body: at water freezing on a paint surface microcracks can be formed. It is impossible to apply gasoline or solvent to clearing of plastic details.

THE NOTE The brake liquid, electrolit, alkalis, soda solution destroy a paint and varnish covering. At hit of these substances immediately wash out and wipe a body a pure rag.

1. We recommend to wash a body in a shade as at fast drying of a paint and varnish covering under direct solar beams on a body there are light stains. If there is a possibility, wash a body with water from a hose and a soft sponge.

2. Carefully wash out junctions of details of a body and welded seams, and also places завальцовки panels of doors and a cowl.

3. At a sink подкапотного spaces water should not get on electric equipment elements. We recommend to use special means for engine clearing. After a sink blow or wipe dry electric equipment elements.

4. It is better to wash glasses with the soft rag moistened with water with addition стеклоомывающей of a liquid.

5. For cleaning of details of an upholstery of salon and seats it is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner. Fat stains from an upholstery delete a soap solution or special means for interior clearing.

6. Plastic details of internal and external furnish can apply usual silicone greasing to shine giving. Put its thin layer on plastic details and располируйте a pure rag.

THE PREVENTION Do not use силиконосодержащие means for steering wheel processing.

7. Wheel arches wash or a water stream under pressure, or a hair brush. The bottom wash with a hair brush not less often than an once in a year, it is desirable prior to the beginning of winter operation, before restoration of an anticorrosive covering. Periodically wash out the bottom and wheel arches during the winter period to clear them of salt.

GOOD ADVICE Do not store the car under прорезиненным a cover and do not put on the painted surfaces of a body subjects from rubber: they leave on a paint and varnish covering (especially light) dark stains which do not leave polishing.

For preservation of appearance of a body and its maintenance in a good condition long time is necessary to polish a paint and varnish covering of a body periodically.

Polishing means select according to a covering condition. Thus it is necessary to observe recommendations about their application strictly.

In the first 2–3 months of operation of the car wash a covering of a body with cold water. For polishing of a new covering (till 3 years) use безабразивные polishing means for new coverings.

At operation of the car from 3 till 5 years use автополироли for the exposed to the wind coverings, incorporating a small amount of abrasive substances. After 5 years of intensive operation apply автополироли to old coverings.

In order to avoid polyrole drying polish a body with small sites manually a pure flannel.

For elimination of minor defects of a paint and varnish covering polishing pastes ПМА-1 or ПМА-2 can be used. It is possible to polish manually and mechanically flannel or beaver-lamb circles.

Before the use paste mix, at загущении dilute with water. After polishing wipe a surface a pure flannel.

Small сколы and the scratches which have not broken a layer of earth, paint over a thin brush. If the layer of earth is broken, smooth out the damaged place a fine-grained emery paper, having removed corrosion traces. The smoothed out place cover with a first coat layer (from краскораспылителя, aerosol баллончика or a brush). When the first coat completely will dry up, paint over enamel the damaged place.

If on a paint and varnish covering of the car bitumen has got, at once remove it uajt-spiritom or an autocleaner of bitumen stains. Bitumen causes occurrence of the yellow stains especially appreciable on a light paint and varnish covering.

Not less often than an once in two years it is necessary to process "Movilem" the latent cavities of a body and to put on a surface of wheel arches and the bottom anticorrosive mastic («Anticorrosive protection of a body» see). We recommend to spend these works at servicing deport.

For increase in service life of a body periodically grease rubbing details (not less often than through 15 000 km of run or once a year). At occurrence of scratches, jammings at once clear corresponding details by means of greasing in aerosol packing (ВТВ-1 or similar), as is shown in photos, and then put the greasing recommended by a card of greasing of the car (it is specified in brackets).

It is necessary to grease a body in following points:

1. Loops of doors (engine oil).

2. Terminators of doors (greasing ШРУС-4, ШРУС-4М or MOLIKOT VN 2461C).	3. Locks of doors (greasing ФИОЛ-1) and...

4.... Clamps of locks (greasing ФИОЛ-1).	5. Cylinders of locks of doors (greasing ВТВ-1 in aerosol packing).

6. A loop and a spring of a cover of the hatch of a fuel tank (greasing ВТВ-1 in aerosol packing).	7. The cowl lock (greasing ФИОЛ-1).

8. Hinges of external rear-view mirrors (greasing ВТВ-1 in aerosol packing).

During operation in cavities of thresholds and doors the moisture causing corrosion accumulates. This moisture leaves through the drainage apertures located from below of thresholds and doors. Drainage apertures are constantly hammered by a dirt, therefore clean them through each 15 000 km of run. At car operation on country roads perform this operation more often.

GOOD ADVICE Clean drainage apertures before a car sink.

1. Clean on two drainage apertures in each threshold.	2. Similarly clean on two drainage apertures in each door.
